Arbeitsumgebung auf opensuse 11.3 replizierbar

Die Arbeit eines Monats hat heute einen Abschluss gefunden.

Ich kann jetzt mit einem Befehl meine Arbeitsumgebung auf jedem Opensuse-11.3-System installieren.

Dazu musste ich hunderte von RPM-Paketen aktualisieren.

A2E Hypertext Makefile Language coming to CPAN as Text::A2E

The Perl-based core part of my production system for multilingual hypertext is now packaged for CPAN with Module::Build.

I still need to migrate the existing unit tests to the framework used by the CPAN packages.

And of course the package needs to be documented so that interested people can use it.

Also, some complementary packages need to be made more easily available both on our website and through the OpenSuSE Build Service.

Still no Economic Basis for Free Fonts

The OpenSuSE Linux 11.3 environment offers fewer fonts than previous versions.

The Founder Fonts and Cyberbit have gone.

Some are still available for non-free products of Novell/Attachmate but not for OpenSuSE.

For fonts and some other software, an effort of group tenders would be useful.

Given that both the buyers and the executers would be working for the public good and for the benefit of freeriders, the tax offices should treat such efforts favorably.

Bountyquest had a similar freerider problem and did not get very far. Still there are bound to be users who have a more direct commercial interest in the availability of a resource and who at the same time are not all that concerned about freeriders. One way to ease the problem would be to free the resource only after a delay of 5 years.

I noticed the disappearance of Founder (FZKaiTi etc) and Cyberbit fonts, which were the best. All these had precarious licenses that were gradually interpreted in an unfavorable way after timid questions to their owners. There are still s⋯⋯ome CJK fonts, but I can not see any “opensource business model” that could counter the digital dilemma that is inhibiting production of information goods here and in many other areas. New social engineering schemes are all limited by freeriding and I haven’t seen any get off the ground. It seems that the many critics of digital copyright have hardly come up with any running code for an alternative rewarding scheme so far.
