Further qualifications

• Knowledge (at least able to read newspapers and to engage in basic conversation) in more than 10 languages; for some interpreting assignments my knowledge of French, Italian and Cantonese is sufficient; For private purposes I have a sufficient level of Greek, Russian, Hokkien and Esperanto; I also try to gain basic abilities to process texts in languages I do not understand fluently, such as Korean.
• Experiences in computer languages (Perl, Ruby, Lisp, Scheme, Bash, SQL, HTML, LaTeX and others), on GNU since 1990 and on Linux since it existed. I have occasionally been working as employee or contractor for software companies (SuSe, Siemens-Nixdorf among others).
• University degree Master of Arts in Sinology, Japanology and General Linguistics in 1989, preceeded by extended studies in East-Asia
